In Memory of

In Memory of Our Lost Riders.

  Leona Martens

We wanted to take a few moments today to remember our member Leona Martens who lost her battle with cancer. One of our members put it best when she responded, “Heaven got an Angel”. Leona was an Angel for sure and a miraculous lady! Not only did she love her Harley but was also the Executive Director for the Weld Food Bank.
She accomplished much in her years at the food bank and was devoted to the cause. She received many awards over the years including the Public Service Award for her public policy efforts for hungry people all over the country. Leona was also awarded the Greeley 2009 Woman of the Year award as well as a 2011 Woman of Distinction. They couldn’t have picked a more deserving person!
Our HOG Chapter has supported the Weld Food Bank and has donated to the Pallet Society since October of 2008. We have also donated to the kid’s backpack pro-gram at the Food Bank and, every May, many members ride in the Weld Food Bank poker run.
Leona had been battling cancer for a number of years and she was told there was nothing more that could be done. I remember when I received the email from her in September announcing this, and amazingly enough she still had the most positive attitude saying she and Al were just going to live every moment they had and enjoy their Harleys. It was Leona’s goal to get out and ride her Harley again. Never happened, but I am sure there must be some room for Harleys in Heaven and she is now able to ride!
Rest in Peace Leona.

Lorri Wilson

We all are sorry to see her life end sLorri_Wilsono early but we are sure she is in a better place. Lorri was a mover and a shaker for how little she was and got a lot of things to happen for our Greeley HOG Chapter. Although she was tiny, she had an awfully big heart which showed. She had to of been one of the top money raisers for this Chapter although it has taken all our awesome ladies to help her accomplish the many things she threw our way such as: quilts, cookbooks, Relay for Life, and many other things. She always had some other idea brewing. She loved to go to TCR and visit with the Ranchers and loved the Harley world. She was always making food and “blinging” things up as she would say. This Chapter was such a big part of her world. May you now rest in peace our dear friend Lorri…

Jerre Fisher

Jerre Fisher, loving grandmother, mother and wife, passed away February 2009, after a long and brave battle with breast cancer. She loved taking care of her many animals, especially her inseparable chemo companion Yorkie, Amazing Grace. She lived and loved life to the fullest and enjoyed Dixieland and Queens City Jazz, cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean and Harley trips to California Hwy #1 with her husband Errol and her brother Doug. Jerre was past director of the Weld County Humane Society and was instrumental in the early development of the organization. She was a longtime member of the Greeley Harley Owners Group and editor of the HO.O.G. Herald newsletter. She was an avid supporter of many needy groups, including Denkai Animal Sanctuary, American Humane Association, Triangle Cross Ranch and Relay for Life.
